Summer Reading Program

 

LNES parents, before you plan all of your summer activities, take some time to plan your child’s reading adventures!  Research shows that students lose a month’s worth of education over the summer. This translates into an estimated 4-6 weeks of re-teaching and review every fall! However, research also shows that simply reading 4-6 books over the summer can significantly reduce this loss (Cooper, 1996). Think of all the time saved if we send our children back to school ready to learn new information rather than review!

Aviator Summer Soaring Reading Competition!

 

We are challenging all LNES students to chart their pages read daily on the provided reading log (please make additional copies as needed).

• Every student who participates in this program will receive a certificate and be recognized at a morning flag ceremony.
• Every student that turns in a reading log will be entered to win a $30 scholastic book fair gift card

Let’s give our Aviators the wings to soar all summer and into another successful year!
